Date of event and final decision on what we want to do for it.

This post is to discuss on what we want to finally do now that we have them pitches in. The YMCA seems popular choice for the charity so do you want to do that? Also what would you rather do for the event though raffle or a tuck shop? As for dates we have these dates available to run our event. 22 October 2015, 29 October 2015 and 5 November 2015. What would be the best suited for everyone?

Money * important *

Today we received £25 for the group to spend. When spending we will need to keep receipts on how much we spend. I (Jamie Ross) will keep the money until we have decided exactly what we are going to be doing. Then we can decide what to spend the money on. - Jamie Ross

Macmillan cancer support group

Introduction: The Macmillan cancer support group is a source of support for people suffering with any kind of cancer, helping them with what ever they need and want. but as well as helping those affected with cancer they also help with the families of those affected and the communities, they also fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer health centers. they also give practical help to people at home, dedicating there time to the sick, and helping them with lifts to the hospital,  and emotional supports.

There Aims:  Is to help those suffereing with this deadly illness to the best of there abilty untill we are able of erradicating this deadly virus for good, and also making awerenesses  regarding the illness and fighting dicrimination- from challenging unfair travel costs and insurance polices to improving the national benefit system.

How we could help: got a few ideas i think we could help with raising funds for the Macmillan cancer support group:
  • running marathons round the college.
  • coffee morning in the college canteen
  • street collection in around the college
  • cake and coffee mornings.

Charity event pitch for WCS

My pitch for the charity event will be to run a tuck shop at the college. Idea is to use the money given to buy sweets from a cheap vendor and sell them at a good price the money raised from the event will got to a charity of our chosen.

An idea I have for a charity, that we could support would be the YMCA which invest in the interest of disadvantaged children. It began in 1844 and operates in 119 countries today. There is a YMCA that we could help out in Paisley. Although they may be a christian organization they work with all cultures regardless of religion. For more information on there history and work you can find out at YMCA.

A basic outline of this plan would be to get permission from the college in order to run the tuck shop and borrow a table for the event. Then we could make posters advertising the event. The second would be finding good store to buy the sweets and making prices for the sweets, I wouldn't recommend that we make the prices for them to high as it would put people off buying. Lastly would just be running the event and then donating the money to the charity. As more challenges arise we could discuss this further online, this is just a basic outline for my idea.
